1945-1948: Post-War Years

Business fell off after the war because of oversupply, and could have spelled the end for Miller Electric. Al Mulder patented a small, hand held spot welder unlike anything on the market. Miller sold thousands of the little welders because they offered a very low-cost fabrication method.

Shortly after introducing the spot welder, Miller Electric developed the AEA 200 engine driven welder, the forerunner to today's popular Miller LegendĘ. Other engine drives on the market were massive and awkward. The AEA 200 had just as much power, but in a much smaller package. Once again, a Miller product had filled a customer need. Business picked up steadily as Miller Electric secured its place in the future of the welding industry.
