MILLER AUTO DELTAWELD MIG POWER SOURCE REDUCES COST, SET-UP TIME FOR AUTOMATED WELDING

- Combines Miller Deltaweld power source and robotic interface into one unit

- Reduces installation time for out-of-the-box welding

APPLETON, Wis., Sept. 9, 2002 -
For companies that need a low cost option for automated MIG welding, Miller Electric Mfg. Co. introduces its Auto Deltaweld MIG welding power source. Combining the proven technology of the Deltaweld 452 with a robotic interface, the new 450 amp (at 100 percent duty-cycle) DC, constant voltage power source simplifies the automated MIG process. It also recognizes the brand of robot attached to it and automatically sets itself up for that robot.

Designed for use in the automotive, truck and trailer manufacturing and in recreational and farm equipment markets, the Auto Deltaweld reduces the cost of an automated welding system.

“This machine changes automated welding,” says Paul Cleveland, account manager, Miller Electric Mfg. Co. “Companies that have had two stand-alone components now can have one machine capable of the same processes but with fewer external connections. The Auto Deltaweld provides out-of-the-box welding with the same arc quality Deltaweld users have relied on for the last 30 years.”

Simple, Reliable

Fewer external connections add to the reliability of the Auto Deltaweld and, according to Cleveland, “Reducing downtime is critical. Decreasing the occurrence of damaged or disconnected cables ultimately spells increased production time.”

Miller’s Deltaweld technology, in combination with a built-in robotic interface, enables the Auto Deltaweld to recognize the brand of robot connected to it, with use of an adapter kit. This adds to the simplicity and flexibility of the machine by making out-of-the-box welding possible. This process differs greatly from standard automated welding systems because the Auto Deltaweld technology eliminates the need for manual set up for each robot.

“The adapter reads the robot connection and automatically sets up the Auto Deltaweld for it,” Cleveland notes. “Switching from robot to robot means simply disconnecting one and connecting the other. Since we provide adapter kits for most major robot manufacturers, we ensure that, no matter how many different robots types a customer may have, we have a connection for it.”

Harting connectors and 1/4 turn steel connectors also aid in quick, simple changing of the connections and reduce the occurrence of downtime.

Other Features

Other important features of the Auto Deltaweld include: Miller’s patented Sharp Start, a process that provides consistent arc starts every time; a Fan-On-Demand cooling system to reduce the amount of airborne contaminants pulled through the machine; and an easy-to-read digital display panel, allowing the operator to read the process and operating information quickly.

The Auto Deltaweld is covered by Miller's 3 year True Blue factory warranty. To download an Auto Deltaweld spec sheet, visit Miller's website at MillerWelds.com.
