NEW 200 AMP DC TIG/STICK INVERTER OFFERS UNMATCHED PORTABILITY

- Accepts 115-460V primary power

- Weighs 37 lb., compact, yet full-featured

- Produces code quality arcs

APPLETON, Wis. (March 3, 2003) -
Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has introduced the worlds most flexible DC TIG/Stick inverter-based power supplies, the Maxstar 200 Series with Auto-Line primary power management technology.

"Auto-Line technology lets the Maxstar 200 accept input power ranging from 115 to 460V, single- or three-phase, 50 or 60Hz without any manual relinking. This allows users to plug it into any type of primary current in the world, from household to industrial outlets, and begin welding immediately," says Jim Brook, product manager, Miller Electric.

"Operators in the mechanical contracting, aerospace, light fabrication, shipbuilding and maintenance industries can't always predict the location of their next job, so they really appreciate the power flexibility and portability of this 37-lb. welding machine."

The Maxstar 200 has a 1 to 200 amp output and produces code-quality TIG and Stick arcs traditionally found in larger industrial machines. For increased reliability in harsh conditions, the unit uses an air flow management design similar to Miller's Wind Tunnel Technology™. This protects electrical components and PC boards from contaminants such dirt and metal dust created by grinding. All Maxstar 200 power sources come with a 3-year True-Blue Warranty.

The Maxstar 200 is available in three versions that offer the options professionals demand. The standard version, the Maxstar 200 SD, features: Lift-Arc™ TIG starts, a built-in high-frequency TIG arc starter (no need to purchase an add-on HF unit), dig control for improved Stick arc starts and welding in tight corners, a built-in gas solenoid valve, pre- and post-flow gas control, standard trigger functions, 14 pin amphenol and international-style connectors.

The Maxstar 200 DX contains all the features of the SD, plus: full-featured controls for true pulsing (peak current, background current, pulse width and pulses per second), sequence controls (initial slope, final slope, initial current and final current) and additional trigger functions such as trigger hold, spot timer and 4T. The Maxstar 200 SD and DX All feature digital displays that let operators easily see and set welding parameters and a logically organized touch pad control panel.

For Stick and Lift-Arc-only TIG welding in a simpler, most cost-effective package, Miller offers the Maxstar 200 STR ("Stick/TIG Remote"). It features the same welding output range and Auto-Line performance as the Maxstar 200 units but without meters and just two control adjustments: amperage and dig (adjusts Stick arc characteristics for different electrodes and applications).
